Nothing like a documentary on Christian Nationalism to spice up a Monday night. God & Country was ok. There wasn’t a real sense of narrative flow, and I was already familiar with a lot of the material being presented. However, I’m glad I went for two main reasons:

    1. I want to encourage movie theaters to keep showing this type of content (documentaries in general, documentaries I agree with in particular).
    2. It was encouraging to see most (all?) of the interviewees were Christians — some even Evangelicals — speaking against Christian Nationalism.

I might be interested in reading the book it’s based on.

Admission was free after visiting the Heinz History Center yesterday. Parking is weirdly far from the museum itself such that getting to the entrance seemed like an accomplishment in itself. Also we skipped breakfast so my stomach started being distracting after not very long, and we ended up bailing pretty quick, made easier to justify because it was “free.”

We intended to have dinner at Great Lakes Brewery, but failed to account for it being 6pm on a Saturday. It was more crowded than suited us, and would have been a wait. Fortunately, Great Lakes is in a fairly active neighborhood so we took a short walk and found this chill board game cafe. We were still able to try some new beers, and perform surprisingly poorly at Trivial Pursuit 90s Edition.

I recently learned Michigan has a small exclave in Lake Erie north of Toledo. Well, maybe not an exclave, it isn’t surrounded by Ohio, but it is only accessible from Ohio (or boat). We hoped to grab a meal at the restaurant (since there’s nothing else to do there), but it was closed for the season. We were able to snap a few photos of the state line monument there, before a local rooster encouraged us to move along.
