Fort Pitt Museum

Admission was free after visiting the Heinz History Center yesterday. Parking is weirdly far from the museum itself such that getting to the entrance seemed like an accomplishment in itself. Also we skipped breakfast so my stomach started being distracting after not very long, and we ended up bailing pretty quick, made easier to justify because it was "free."

In retrospect (outside of the breakfast issue) I approached it with the wrong mindset, which didn't help me get the most out of it. I was thinking of it as a "fort museum" more than a "museum at a fort." The first floor was a lot of fort museum stuff (This is how the fort is laid out, and why. These are the parts of a fort and what they do, these are the types of armaments, etc.). The second floor was a lot more regional and even global history from the years the fort was in use. I am pretty certain ~15 minutes of reading didactic panels provided more context for the French and Indian War than I had in the entirety of my primary school career.
